Avalon was envisioned as the first true “urbanburb,” mixed-use development in the southeastern United States, designed to consolidate high-end residences, unique retail offerings, dining, entertainment and corporate spaces in one walkable neighborhood. After providing the successful design solution for phase one of the development, Wakefield Beasley has been engaged in multiple design initiatives for phase two. For the Office Tower at Avalon, the firm was tasked by office developer Hines with creating a nine story speculative office building that connects to the existing parking deck and provides high end retail space on the lower level. The City of Alpharetta had strict requirements for the structure and envisioned a warehouse loft aesthetic to meet the budget. Wakefield Beasley was able to provide a contextually appropriate design that satisfied City and owner requirements within the developer’s budget.
