Etowah Museum Master Plan

Cartersville, Georgia

The Etowah Indian Mounds historical site is the final resting place of thousands of Native Americans that lived in the area from 1000 A.D. to 1550 A.D. The 54-acre site protects six earthen mounds, a plaza, village site, borrow pits and defensive ditch and is the most intact Mississippian Culture site in the Southeast. The site also feature a museum that showcases a variety of artifacts that provide a glimpse into how these natives lived.

WBA assisted the park in the development of a master plan inclusive of two design concepts – one providing a full renovation and addition to the existing structure and the other offered an entirely new museum. Under this assignment, WBA provided a full facility assessment and valuation, comprehensive programming, masterplan and concept design as well as cost estimating.
