Chattahoochee Technical College – Health Sciences Building

Marietta Campus, Marietta, Georgia

To expand the school’s medical technology programs and attract students interested in healthcare careers, Chattahoochee Technical College (CTC) contracted with Wakefield Beasley to design a new Health Science academic building at its Marietta campus. CTC was eager to develop this facility to consolidate healthcare courses on one campus in state-of-the-art simulation labs. Wakefield Beasley held several programming sessions with CTC to determine the physical space requirements of the new curriculum to be offered in the Health Science building. The firm also investigated existing hospital, research and teaching facilities to determine the best space configuration for the new structure as well as the most efficient design for learning. The faculty area will be located on one side of the building where it will be flooded with natural daylight through by large expanses of curtainwall. A covered employee roof terrace on the third floor of the building will provide social space for staff. The facility allows students to complete medical technology courses and other diverse coursework on one campus, rather than having to travel to other satellite campuses.
