The 20,000 square foot addition to the existing Robert D. Fowler Family YMCA facility in northeast Atlanta earned the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification for energy efficient design and environmental quality.

The two-story addition and renovation adds to the existing 35,000 square foot facility originally designed by Wakefield Beasley & Associates over 10 years ago. The facility is located on a 10-acre site and was developed by the Metro Atlanta YMCA. It includes a senior center, fitness center, aerobics studio, teen center and expanded locker rooms along with a two‑story community space. Master Planning for the facilities includes a future outdoor pool, playground and other expanded services.
