Bridgeside at Patriots Point

The old saying ‘you can’t build castles on quicksand’ was definitely on the minds of WBA architects when Daniel Corporation awarded WBA Bridgeside at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, SC.

Bridgeside is a 483,000 s.f. multifamily complex with one small obstacle: the soil. The geotechnical report showed that the soil conditions were very poor; a composite of soft and marine clay with very loose to dense sand. WBA accepted the challenge and met with engineers to form a concrete solution. No pun necessary; the design and engineering solution was a concrete pile system under every structure (including the sanitary system) to support the weight of the structures.

The project broke ground in 2014 and is set for completion in 2016. Once completed each building will contain 108 units for a project total of 324 apartments, a 4,500 square foot Clubhouse / Leasing office and associated pool deck. In addition, the ground level will include covered parking for 74 automobiles at each building.
